What school do you think is better Eckerd College, Florida Southern College or University of Tampa?
I am deciding out of those three schools which one i would prefer. I live in the Bahamas and didnt get to visit any of them as yet. I would like personal expiriences in the area or people who attend/attended the schools to give a response as to 1. what they liked and disliked about the school 2. What there is to do in Lakeland, St. Petersburg and Tampa 3. How is campus life.. meals, dorm rooms, etc.

Answer 1 :
I would rank their reputations as: 1) University of Tampa 2) Florida Southern College 3) Eckerd College I didn't attend them, but I am from the Tampa Bay area, so I have some knowledge of their relative prestige. UT and Eckerd are both in the Tampa Bay area, and have basically the same things to do - that which is typical of a suburban metropolitan area near the coast. Lakeland, however, is in the interior of the state and is a generally more rural area.
Answer 2 :
I applied to both Tampa and Eckerd. Eckerd was my dream school, but it is too far away and I couldn't afford it. It is a beautiful, frierndly campus though.
Answer 3 :
eckerd is definitely the most academically renowned among job circles but florida southern may be a more solid choice all-around. i know a lot of people who like it. eckerd is a smaller school while the others are big state schools. its just a matter of preference. here are some good links with students' experiences. reviews of eckerd-- http://www.studentsreview.com/FL/EC.html tampa-- http://www.studentsreview.com/FL/UT.html florida southern-- http://www.studentsreview.com/FL/FSC.html As you can see FSU has the best reviews but take them all with a grain of salt. I'd suggest just reading them all and seeing what you think. I hope I helped ya out a bit! ;)
Answer 4 :
UT would probably give you the best college experience based on the location, number of students, and demographics. Eckerd tend to be older students returning to school and Lakeland is kind of the middle of nowhere.
Answer 5 :
UT, you are closer to the city with WAY more opportunities. You never mentioned what your studies will be, but at a University you'll be able to move on to a graduate degree program also.
Answer 6 :
Univ of Tampa would be my choice. It's a nice campus, Tampa is a nice size city and it has a good mix of students. Florida Southern would be the last on my list. Lakeland is very small. The campus is just ok and the dorms are ancient. Good luck.
Answer 7 :
I highly recommend the University of Tampa. I am an alumna of UT and I loved it. At the time the student population was about half of what it is today, but you will still get that small school atmosphere. Professors are there because they want to teach and they are dedicated to helping students achieve their goals. I haven't seen the res halls in a long time, but I know many are new or have been recently renovated. They also have a really nice student success center. I loved living in Tampa. You are downtown within walking distance of a number of fantastic community events such as Gasparilla and the annual 4th of July fireworks. The University also offers a number of free events for the community like concerts in Plant Park. There are lots of restaurants and shopping nearby (Old Hyde Park, Ybor City, Harbor Island), but you would need to take the bus or drive there. You are also just a bridge away from St. Petersburg and Clearwater. I hope this helps! Good luck!
