What is the most prestigious college in Florida

What is the most prestigious college in Florida?
Chapel Hill is my first choice but if I don't get it I have family in Florida and would like to go there. I want a school that isn't (at) all about partying, and has smart students, like Chapel Hill, but not stuck up students, like Duke. Yes, I'm generalizing. And I'd like the school to be fairly well-known, so when I tell my friends where I'm going to college they won't say "huh?". =) Okay Miami and U of F are both on the top twenty list of party schools in the United States...

University of Florida.
Answer 2 :
hahhaa what a funny joke!!!
Answer 3 :
california has wayy better colleges than anything in florida, maybe miami is ok
Answer 4 :
Lol, University of Florida is known for it's partying, but it's also known for it's great academic programs. I would apply to University of Florida, although the school is getting harder to get in, it sounds like a pretty promising school. (One of the admission guys came down to our school and talked to us about University of Florida). And to the second, I don't see what's so funny, really. Florida has great Colleges to offer like anywhere else. To the third answer, have you attend the Colleges in Florida and the Colleges in California and contrast them yourself? If it's just from what you heard or the so called "reputation" from the school's name, then I feel that your answer is pretty redundant. I could very well be going to a Community College and think that it's better than Harvard. It really all comes down to your own personal experience, so let's not start saying which College is better from what you heard, shall we? To the topic starter*- Really, you can't judge a College because of some so-called list. Just know that the kids like to have fun aside from all the studying. I highly advise you to check out their website and just look at the kids' statistics they accepted into the school in 2008.
Answer 5 :
1. UF 2. Miami 3. FSU 4. USF 5. UCF
Answer 6 :
Just because they're party schools doesn't mean they aren't good schools. I would have to say, depending on what you're looking to study, either Miami or UF. I went to UF for a year and went to maybe 1 party and I felt like I was getting a great education. Before UF I went to school at UMass-Amherst which is like 5 spots below UF on the party school list and did way more partying there and the classwork was so much easier. Bottom line, don't brush off schools because of a party school reputation. The only reason UF and Miami have that reputation is because they both have fanatic sports fans. It's easy to avoid being sucked into partying and hard to avoid extremely intelligent individuals at UF at least.
Answer 7 :
Florida has many quality institution of higher learning public and private. Most of them have already been mentioned However, the University of Florida and the University of Central Florida are the two largest and most selective public institutions in the state. Other public universities include: FSU, USF and FAU. Miami and Rollins are both private and both very good schools There are others, but these are the most well known. Just some advice, you should choose the institution that best suits you, your budget, and your area of study not necessarily which is the most well known. You probably never heard of UCF but in 2008 that university was number 8 among the top 10 universities with the most patents, surpassing such historic and well known institutions like Harvard and the University of Wisconsin.

I don't think there is a place called Florida College (at least I've never heard of it and, apparently, neither has Google!). There are a lot of colleges in Florida (University of Florida, Florida State, University of Miami, University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, University of Tampa, Rollins University, etc. However, I'm not sure your grades and SAT scores would qualify you for any of these. You might do better to start out at a community college and transfer after two years to a better four-year school than you would be qualified for now.
